Heat milk in saucepan over medium heat
Whisk egg yolks with sugar until pale
Mix cornstarch with small amount of milk
Add cornstarch mixture to egg yolk mixture
Temper hot milk into egg mixture slowly
Return mixture to saucepan and cook gently
Stir constantly until mixture thickens nicely
Remove from heat when custard coats spoon
Add vanilla extract and butter immediately
Stir in food coloring for pink color
Strain custard through fine mesh strainer
Pour into individual serving cups carefully
Cover with plastic wrap touching surface
Refrigerate for at least two hours
