Ingredients

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 500 g ground beef
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 egg

Instructions

Cook the Noodles

  • Boil water in a large pot. Add salt and noodles. Cook until soft but firm. Drain and lay flat. This prevents sticking and keeps them ready for layering later.

Prepare the Meat Sauce

  • Heat olive oil in a pan. Add onions and garlic. Cook until soft and fragrant. Add ground beef and cook fully. Pour in tomato sauce and spices. Simmer slowly for rich flavor.

Mix the Cheese Filling

  • Take a bowl and add ricotta cheese. Crack in one egg. Mix well until smooth. This helps the layers stay firm. Add a pinch of salt and pepper for taste.

Start Layering the Lasagna

  • Spread some sauce on the baking dish. Add noodles on top. Then add ricotta mix. Sprinkle mozzarella. Repeat layers carefully. Finish with sauce and Parmesan cheese on top.

Bake to Perfection

  • Cover with foil and bake at 180°C. Bake for 40 minutes. Remove foil and bake 10 more minutes. The top should be golden and bubbly.

Let It Rest Before Serving

  • Take it out of the oven. Let it sit for 15 minutes. This step is very important. It helps the layers hold together when slicing.

Notes

  • Use fresh herbs for better flavor
  • Add spinach for a healthy twist
  • Try chicken instead of beef
  • Use cottage cheese instead of ricotta
  • Add mushrooms for extra texture
  • Do not overcook the noodles
  • Let it rest before cutting
