- 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
- 15 oz can tomato sauce
- 6 oz can tomato paste
- 1 onion chopped small
- 4 garlic cloves chopped
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons fresh basil
Heat oil in large pot over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook 1 more minute. Add tomato paste and cook 2 minutes.
Add crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce. Mix well. Add oregano, basil, sugar, salt, and pepper. Bring to a gentle boil. Turn heat to low.
Cover pot but leave small gap. Cook for 45 minutes, stirring sometimes. Add fresh basil at the end.
