Ingredients
  

For Dough:

  • 2 cups corn flour masa harina
  • cups warm water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp oil

For Filling:

  • 2 cups cooked chicken shredded
  • 1 cup cheese shredded
  • ¼ cup onion diced
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions
 

Make Filling:

  • Heat oil in pan.
  • Cook onions for three minutes.
  • Add garlic and chicken.
  • Add spices and cook five minutes.
  • Let cool, then mix in cheese.

Make Dough:

  • Mix corn flour and salt.
  • Add water slowly while mixing.
  • Add oil and knead well.
  • Cover for fifteen minutes.

Shape Pupusas:

  • Make eight balls from dough.
  • Flatten each ball into circle.
  • Put filling in center.
  • Fold edges and seal tight.
  • Flatten gently into thick disc.

Cook:

  • Heat pan over medium heat.
  • Cook pupusas four minutes each side.
  • Look for golden brown color.
  • Serve hot and enjoy.

Notes

  • Keep dough covered so it stays soft
  • Don't overfill or they will break
  • Seal edges really well
  • Cook on medium heat only
  • Serve right away for best taste
