- 6 cups crumbled cornbread
- 4 slices white bread torn up
- 1 large onion chopped
- 3 celery stalks chopped
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3 cups chicken broth
- 2 eggs beaten
- 1 tablespoon sage
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Heat oven to 375°F.
Grease your baking dish well.
Put crumbled cornbread in large bowl.
Add torn bread pieces.
Heat butter in pot.
Cook onions until soft.
Add celery and cook 5 minutes.
Pour in chicken broth.
Boil mixture, then remove from heat.
Mix in beaten eggs and seasonings.
Pour over bread in bowl.
Mix everything together gently.
Put mixture in baking dish.
Cover with foil and bake 30 minutes.
Remove foil, bake 15 more minutes.
Let cool 10 minutes before serving.
